Working in south Indian movies
Ask if he faced any hurdles in South Indian films despite being a Punjabi actor, he says, “Frankly, I owe all my success, fame, and recognition to my fans in the south. I enjoy acting in South Indian films. Starting from the directors to everyone on the sets make me feel so comfortable that I have never felt that I am acting in a South Indian film and that’s why I haven’t stopped acting in South Indian movies. In fact, my upcoming film is also a South Indian one and I will soon get busy shooting for the film.”

On directorial ambitions
Sonu also harbours an ambition of donning the director’s hat. He tells us, “As an engineer, I have sound knowledge of camera handling and other technicalities required for filmmaking. I have also assisted a few filmmakers in direction. May be, someday, I would direct my own movie.”
On being a cricket crazy fan
Sonu, who is a known fitness freak, is crazy about cricket. He says, “Just a, few months back I met with a major accident while playing for a celebrity cricket tournament. I fractured my leg during the match and had to get a temporary rod inserted. Despite the injury, I have not given up doing my daily workout. I’m eagerly waiting to catch all the action in ICC Cricket World Cup, next year. Sadly, I will be missing my favourite cricketers Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) and Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh) in action.”
